    teacher..
    this is the idiomatic expression..: 'Jockey for position'
    that means..if a number of people want the same opportunity and are struggling to emerge as the most likely candidate, they are jockeying for position.
    for example.."Three riders were jockeying for position in the race. Ken was behind, but jockeying for position"
    than you teacher..!!!!
